THE WRIGGLY TIN
SELF-BUILD BLOG

The Wriggly Tin is a new build house situation near Glastonbury in rural Somerset.  The brief was to design and self build a new home guided by the agenda to work locally and sustainably to minimise embodied and operational carbon emissions.  This is reflected in the materiality, structural form and energy strategy of the design.  The structure is built entirely from timber, using a twin-stud frame and structural glue-lam. The walls and roof are insulated with recycled warm-cell newspaper and the exterior of the building is clad in local larch timber and purbeck dry stone.  The following blog follows the construction process of the project.
